Once dispersed into the air, a potential risk of an explosion presents itself, posing substantial danger to life and equipment. Leveraging our extensive experience combined with our wide breadth of product offerings, we can help you with your combustible dust management and control strategy, by proposing dust collection solutions for your processes. Our solutions focus on helping you manage your combustible dust and the attendant risks in your process. Because an industrial process’ finest combustible dust is stored in these vessels, dust collectors are one of the most common areas to experience a deflagration. Fike partnered with the team at dust safety science to create the following checklist which details all of the capabilities an explosion protection provider should possess to help you reach combustible dust safety.
The ensuing deflagration in this connected vessel then starts at an increased pressure with correspondingly more serious consequences, both in terms of the rate of combustion and final pressure. Explosion protection on fluid bed dryer – dryer is protected with multiple iep technologies dry-chemical suppressant “bottles” and static pressure detectors. Learn about the fundamental properties of combustible dust and gain an initial understanding of related european legislation. explosion protection atex .
Safeguarding personnel and assets requires a smart approach that addresses combustible dust hazards at every level. To ensure compliance with regulations and that standards are met, cpe filters designs and tailors dust collection and explosion protection solutions for each plant’s specific application and process conditions. In the design of appropriate dust extraction and collection systems, inlets, ideally, should be located as close to the dust-producing process as possible. To protect the workplace, adhere to osha guidelines, and keep manufacturing operations running reliably, dust collectors should be located outdoors, where possible. Explosion suppression systems extinguish explosions at an early stage preventing the pressure rising above the equipment strength.
The 2022 explosions occurred in; 1 ethanol plant, 2 feed mills, 2 grain elevators, 2 rice mills, and 2 grain processing plants. These recent events indicate that grain dust explosions continue to be a major problem for the global grain industry. Chemical suppression and isolation systems using pistonfire ii suppressor bottles are active as are slide gate knife isolation valves.
Your dust collection equipment supplier will need the kst and pmax values in order to correctly size explosion venting or suppression systems. Elevex is a certified effective solution for the explosion protection of vertical and horizontal conveyors. Installation of the elevex system does not prevent an explosion in an elevator or other similar transport system, but the outcomes can be reduced to a minimum. An explosion occurs when combustible dust dispersed in the air in high-enough concentration accumulates within an enclosed location in the atmosphere or in the presence of an oxidizing agent (pure oxygen). The last requirements are a source of ignition in a given space and at given time. The explosion is characterized by the rapid production of large amounts of heat, flue gases, and an enormous increase in pressure.
If you need help finding the right solution for your needs, our experts and advisers will help you. Faulty electrical equipment and wiring can produce electrical arcs, potent ignition sources. Self-heating is a phenomenon where certain materials, especially organic materials like grain dust, can undergo oxidation that generates heat.
The institution of chemical engineers (icheme) guide (2002) gives further information on the spacing of intermediate explosion vents on single and twin leg elevators. Friction and impact can generate sparks, which are significant ignition sources in dusty environments. These sparks can arise from routine operations involving machinery, tools, or materials that collide or rub against each other. If the dust is not found to be an explosive threat, the analysis can be aborted to avoid unnecessary fees. If an explosion that starts at one location inside a plant causes the explosive mixture ahead of the flame front to be compressed, much higher ultimate pressures can result.Grain dust explosions causes and protection methods
In this case, when explosion pressure builds and sensed, a remote detector sends a signal to the selected devices. An explosion protection system can be totally passive or active depending upon the facility regulations and position of the protected equipment within the facility. Typically, active systems will be a more defined design based upon equipment being located indoors or not being able to be properly vented to the atmosphere safely.
But there are many nfpa-certified systems available to make your dust collector as safe as it can be. The main goal of any type of explosion and fire protection options for industrial dust collectors is to control an explosion, keep employees safe and minimise damage to equipment and buildings. As a manufacturer and supplier of industrial filtration solutions, we can assist process owners in the selection of filtration technologies. To provide this support, we need complete and accurate information on all potentially combustible contaminants and the fire and/or explosion mitigation plan(s) that you as a process owner intend to pursue. Once your risk mitigation plan is prepared, we can help review it and integrate our donaldson equipment into your dust management strategy. Comply with standards and regulations concerning combustible dust hazards and protective methods.
Explosion vent panels and doors are considered as autonomous protective systems within the meaning of the atex equipment regulations. As such, new panels or doors must comply fully with the essential health and safety requirements, and be tested and certified by a notified body. Existing panels do not need to be replaced, but they should be suitable for the purpose. The most dangerous industries for dust explosions in metal processing are those in which aluminium and its alloys are handled. The difference in characteristics of organic dusts with a reduction in dispersion can vary by tens of per cent, whereas the characteristics of aluminium dusts vary by hundreds of per cent.
Burst dischargers are installed on cyclone casings, bag filters and dust collection hoppers. Special openings are made in the walls of the equipment to release the shock wave and flame during an explosion. Under normal operating conditions they are sealed by bursting discs of a certain size and shape.
These are often intake and mixing locations, bag dumps, and welding or cutting stations. In each location, analyze the production processes, housekeeping practices, dust control measures, and potential ignition sources present. Every industrial process has its own equipment, geometries, materials and hazards, making “one-size-fits-all” explosion protection impossible. Fike’s decades of experience, system design team and comprehensive explosion mitigation systems ensure we have the solutions to reliably protect each of your unique applications. If the test is positive, then the explosive index (kst) and the maximum pressure rise (pmax) of the dust should be determined.Explosion protection for dust collectors
By working closely with companies, and identifying practical solutions to protecting dust collection systems, iep’s has earned the reputation as a trusted industrial explosion protection partner. Define explosion protection methods to prevent and mitigate the hazards identified in the risk assessment. We prevent, control, extinguish and mitigate risk, stopping an explosion before it forms or gains momentum. One of the most serious risks caused by dust in manufacturing environments is that of combustible dust.
Osha can inspect facilities in any industry where a hazard from combustible dust exists, but under the combustible dust nep directive, it cannot specifically cite a company for violations because emphasis programs are not standards or laws. If you’re updating, expanding, or changing the application for an existing system we can provide the necessary support. We retrofit and update equipment from many manufactures to meet code and have installed explosion suppression systems, explosion vents and nfpa approved accessories on over 10 different manufacturers of dust collectors.
A professional lab test can determine the combustibility of the dust handled in your workplace. The test can also determine which dust explosion class the dust belongs to, from st 0 to st 3. These valves are installed in the inlet ducting to create a mechanical barrier that keeps explosion flame and pressure from traveling through ducts into the process area. Normal airflow keeps the valves open, but the pressure wave forces it closed in the event of an explosion. Apart from these recommendations, the nfpa has devised a 9-step plan you need to implement to further ensure explosion prevention, protection, and control.
In the event of a dust collector explosion, the filter also prevents the flame front from entering the workspace because it contains the fuel – the explosive dust – in the collector. Camfil's integrated safety monitoring filter is an effective flame front arrestor for st1 and st2 dusts according to nfpa-mandated design options. These performance-based design options are provided in chapter 5 of nfpa 654 and nfpa 69.
Combustible dust hazards pose significant risks across various industries, from manufacturing plants to food processing facilities. When fine particles are dispersed in the air at optimal concentrations, they can lead to massive explosions and fires. In this blog post, we’ll delve into strategies for eliminating and mitigating dust hazards. We’ll cover essential aspects such as controlling ignition sources, housekeeping best practices and explosion protection measures. By aligning with the legal requirements and implementing these strategies, organizations can significantly reduce the risk of dust explosions. Remember that prevention is the first line of defence, followed by effective control measures and proper explosion protection.
This is how the mechanical check valve cuts off the explosion by localising it in the ductwork. We are proud to be the official uk partner for one of the leading explosion protection manufacturers, globally – so you can rest assured that our supply is one of the best. 4.7 dedicated storage buildings are normally used with no processing plant installed or other work activities carried on in them. Eliminate high-level horizontal surfaces where possible, e.G. By use of sloping surfaces to minimise dust accumulation. The top of the silo acts as an explosion relief and should, where reasonably practicable be ducted directly to open air.
You will achieve this by applying explosion-proof drum kits to a dust collector bottom because these do not need an isolation channel between them. In cases of explosions in hammer mills, the equipment is durable enough to withstand the explosion inside. Various testing strategies and experimental methods are commonly available for determination of thermal decomposition hazards. The operator should have shown due consideration of these hazards and taken appropriate measures to provide pressure relief. Measures for provision of pressure relief in these cases are addressed in the technical measures document on relief systems / vent systems. Hazards from exothermic reactions occur in the event of thermal runaway of the reaction mixture in which the rate of generation of heat is greater than the available cooling capacity of the system.Industrial dust explosions
Contact coopatex limited today to discuss your production, and protect your workplace from the potentially devastating effects of a dust explosion. While materials such as grain, coal, wood chips and agricultural goods are conveyed into the silo, a combustible dust cloud is often created. Protect workers from explosions or fires resulting from a combustible dust incident. [newline]Flame arresters consist of an explosion panel and an outer casing with a scattering surface. They prevent the spread of open flames and rapidly reduce the pressure and temperature of the explosion.
We have a range of solutions for every application and our products cover a variety of industries such as pharmaceutical, distilling, aerospace and food processing. The first step to running a safe and protected process is to design a solution specific to the application, and that’s where we come in. 1.5 industrial fire and explosion hazards are controlled through the application of dsear 2002, enforced primarily by hse and local authorities. Nederman offers a wide range of products, solutions and services for industrial air filtration. We have long and extensive experience and a wide range of products and solutions for combustible dust.
The lives and health of employees are at risk, production is interrupted or stopped. Whether finely ground organic or metallic particles, combustible dusts can be found in several industries including chemicals, food and beverages, rubber, plastics, and most fossil fuel power plants. Dust explosions can have disastrous consequences for many industries, including fatal injuries to workers and civilians. An explosion hazard arises when dusts are manufactured, stored, or processed and these materials are airborne. Dust explosions happen when a dispersed flammable element is present in high enough concentration.
The dissipation effect reduces the temperature of the explosion from 2600 °c to safe levels and prevents open flames from reaching people in the workplace. At the same time the overpressure is reduced to values to which the elevator design is resistant. Importantly, the process is automatic - no operator is needed to operate the flame arrestor correctly.
3.26 the effects of any ductwork (e.G. Back-pressure) need to be taken into account to ensure the protected equipment does not experience forces that may cause it to rupture. 3.16 vessels supplied by pneumatic conveying systems must have adequate air stripping capacity and be fitted with level gauges to prevent overfilling. 3.8 totally enclose open bag (unenclosed sock) dust collecting filter units and fit with explosion relief. Self-heating and contact with hot surfaces (giving rise to spontaneous ignition) can give rise to additional hazards. Many of these topics are already addressed in a number of hse and industry trade body publications.
These are just a couple of factors that are considered by the fike applications team during venting system design process. Nederman has wide experience in providing solutions for handling potentially explosive dust - combustible dust. Incorporating these strategies, especially in settings with various conveyor systems, such as tubular conveyor, disc conveyors, and automatic conveyor systems, is crucial. Conveyor manufacturers and those involved in conveyor installation supervision must prioritize these safety measures to ensure a safer industrial environment. Hse's traditional advice for buildings storing flammable liquids has been to ask for a lightweight roof, which will act as explosion relief if a vapour cloud ignited within the building, and this has not changed as a result of dsear. Stores designed for storage of petroleum liquids under earlier legislation normally had heavy concrete structures, to provide maximum protection for the stored product from a fire in the vicinity.
In many industrial settings, dust might seem like a harmless byproduct of everyday operations. However, under certain conditions, this unassuming dust can lead to catastrophic explosions, posing serious threats to both human safety and property. Selecting the appropriate dust collector for a processing plant or production facility should be guided by the dust collector that is best suited for the specific work environment of that company. Industrial dust collection systems must clear, filter and clean air inside and outside of plants in operations that generate particulate matter. The correct size dust collector will make sure the system is efficient at capturing particulate matter as well as in compliance with regulations. How to prevent combustible dust explosions?
Over 30 years of experience providing quality products, installing, and servicing all phases of industrial ventilation systems throughout the united states and canada. Whatever your final design and equipment selection, it is imperative to know who will approve or certify the system you select when your system is in operation. That party is defined as authority having jurisdiction (ahj) and they most often will refer to the latest version of the nfpa standard. Connect with a fike design engineer to build out a system that protects your facility and meets your business objectives.
It is suitable for both vertical and horizontal ducting, for overpressure and underpressure systems. The explosion extinguishing system is easy to install and maintain in operation. It does not require expensive construction work or modifications to existing equipment. Most importantly, the system reliably protects cyclones and filters from the damaging effects of an explosion and localises the consequences of an accident. 4.12 grain heaps should be aerated to prevent self-heating and may be monitored to detect any temperature rise. Roof or side wall extraction ventilation fans with electrical enclosure to ip6x standard may need to be installed.
The effects of an explosion can be devastating, not only in cost due to production downtime and repairs, but also to the safety of personnel. Use electrical equipment dust protected to ip5x or ip6x (see bs en part 14), depending on dust levels. Surface temperatures should be controlled to a maximum of 200°c (lower for milk powder, some fish meals and other products with unsaturated (such as linseed or rapeseed) oils in them). To check levels in bins use an explosion-proof battery powered hand lamps (note that they require the specified type of battery) secured against accidental dropping, or tripods with fixed lamps placed over inspection hatches.
3.20 only rotary valves that have been type tested and atex-certified should be used as explosion chokes; they will often feature rigid blades and small clearances from the valve casing. Rotary valves with rubber edged blades or with excessive gaps between vanes and casing do not act as an effective choke. 3.4 maintain slight negative pressure on storage vessels such as bins and silos by use of extraction systems.
Active systems such as chemical isolation and fast acting valves react prior to or during a deflagration event. These systems involve costly technology and typically requires recertification every three months. Passive systems react immediately following an event to prevent the deflagration from traveling to other areas and causing more damage.
The buildup of dried residue from the processing of wet materials can also generate dust. Combustible dust is a combustible particulate matter suspended in the air or through other oxidizing mediums. These dusts consist of exceptionally fine material that holds combustible properties that have the ability to catch fire and explode when mixed with air. They derive from most solid organic materials, such as flour, grains, sugar, wood, and so on. But they can also form out of finely ground metals and nonmetallic inorganic materials.Dust collector explosion protection
If the explosion relief is located above the vortex finder it is essential that the strength of the vortex finder (‘thimble’) is adequate to withstand an explosion within the cyclone. 3.3 seal joints and leakage points around powder handling systems to prevent escape and accumulation of dust in the building and onto surrounding plant items. Maintain scrupulous cleanliness by the use of a fully earthed, centralised piped vacuum cleaning system. Avoid the use of sweeping brushes and compressed air except for non-dusty cleaning activities. 2.5 common processes generating explosible dusts in the food industry include flour and provender milling, sugar grinding, spray drying of milk and instant coffee and conveyance/storage of whole grains and finely divided materials.
Listed below are some concrete ways of reducing the buildup and spread of combustible dust, and the risk of it leading to a fatal dust explosion. Do you want to learn more about the risk of explosion or find out about the most suitable explosion protection? This easy-to-use tool helps confirm which protection methods are available for your equipment based on its handled dust type, size, location and more.
When product cannot be released safely into the environment, a process vessel is located within 3 meters of building perimeter, or when an explosion cannot be vented in a safe area a suppression system is required. When there is the possibility that a fireball could spread to other buildings or process vessels though interconnecting pipework, an isolation system is required. Due to the presence of combustible dusts, storage and processing facilities for raw plant material are classified as hazardous areas. The minimum requirements for their explosion protection are specified in directive 99/92/ec. Explosion transmission protection devices are systems for preventing the transmission of explosions to related parts of the technology.
A fine sugar dust explosion can generate a pressure in excess of 100 psi within enclosed process equipment in less than 100 milliseconds. Industry is provided with recently updated tools to manage such risk in the form of standards published by the national fire protection association (nfpa). For some industries, dust accumulation is unavoidable given the nature of their operations and the materials they use. The combustible dust incident reports indicates that wood processing and wood products (18.5%), agricultural activity (36.6%) and food production (11.6%) represent the largest portion of the overall fire and explosion incidents in 2021. Dust explosion occurs when fine particles are exposed to oxygen and come into contact with an ignition source such as a spark, metallic ember or cigarette butt.
An under pressure would occur downstream of any substantial leak which developed. An over pressure would be caused if someone tried to overfill a receiving vessel. 3.5 provide adequate arrangements for separating powder from its transporting air (e.G. Cyclones & bag filters), when pneumatic conveyor systems are used. In environments with explosive atmospheres, using equipment rated for such conditions (ex rated) is essential. This includes everything from lighting and electrical components to hand tools and machinery. Stopping an explosion from spreading upstream and downstream into connected pipes and equipment is as important as containing the initial deflagration itself.
The risks from these hazards will need to be assessed by a competent person and appropriate measures applied if you are to comply with the law. Deflagration processes happen so rapidly that heated air and gaseous products of fire (carbon dioxide) produce extreme atmospheric pressure that can blow up walls and destroy structures. Fibcs, or bulk bags, are commonly used for storing and transporting powders and granular materials. Certain types of fibcs can accumulate static electricity, posing a risk in dusty environments. If the go/no-go test is negative, further tests can determine what temperature would ignite the dust.
The right dust collector system offers protection from combustible dust and will keep plants safe, and companies in compliance with the latest standards and regulations. A considerable amount of experimental data has been used to develop empirical design equations. Many different equations have been published, each with a restricted range of applicability, and plants will be found which have used all these design equations. More recently, work within cen has produced a rationalisation and simplification of the design equations recommended, and this standard should be adopted when it becomes available.Sugar dust explosion prevention & protection
A european harmonised standard for solvent evaporating ovens prefers alternative precautions for many applications, but in the dust handling industries explosion relief remains a widely used mitigation measure. This is because it is often impossible to prevent the formation of dense dust clouds inside the process. The dust itself, or mechanical moving parts in contact with the dust often create ignition risks that cannot be eliminated completely. Many production facilities generate, handle, transport, process, or store materials that cause or become combustible dust.
Combustible dust hazards present very real dangers for fires and explosions in industrial production and processing plants and facilities. Dust explosion prevention protects workers, visitors, equipment and machinery, buildings and adjacent buildings, and in some cases, even neighborhoods, from the dangers posed by combustible dusts. First of all, let’s discuss the difference between “prevention” and “protection.” prevention focuses on recognizing dust explosion hazards and eliminating them before a dust explosion happens. Once the incident occurs, it is essential to protect people and machinery from potentially devastating flash fires, fires, and combustible dust explosions.

On august 7th, 2023, a very powerful explosion rocked the turkish grain board (tmo) grain terminal located in the port of derince turkiye, injuring ten employees and killing two. While the investigation continues, it is believed that a grain dust explosion was the cause of this devastating event.
This means that, when an explosion occurs, all that is visible from the outside of the vessel is a puff of smoke from the flameless venting device. Personnel can safely occupy the area nearby the equipment, so use indoors is an option in most cases. A properly designed and protected grain handling facility would provide a safer work environment for the employees while minimizing unplanned downtime caused by destructive and costly dust explosions. Explosion protection systems are important in industries where flammable materials like chemicals, gases, or dust are present. It helps avoid catastrophic explosions that can cause damage to equipment, harm people, and disrupt production processes. 1.2 general guidance on the prevention of fires and explosions from dusts is contained in hse publication hsg103 'safe handling of combustible dusts – precautions against explosions'.
Fire sprinkler systems may also be required with some installations and can be coupled with smoke detection or other pressure detection systems. The purpose of the combustible dust nep is to inspect facilities that generate or handle combustible dust that poses a deflagration or other fire hazard. However, the nep is but a set of instructions that contain policies and procedures for inspecting workplaces that generate or handle combustible dust.Combustible dust donaldson industrial dust, fume & mist
In a variety of processing industries, there will be small particles of material that, at various stages of the manufacturing process, are likely to become airborne. Once dispersed into the air, a potential risk of an explosion presents itself, posing substantial danger to life. 3.13 equip all explosion relief vents with index switches to close down the plant in the event of explosion relief being activated to prevent the onward transmission of burning material. 1.1 explosions and fires within the food industry from combustible materials are a known hazard and they can have devastating and irreversible effects. This information sheet concentrates solely on the fire and explosion hazards encountered in the food industries from dusty and powdered substances.
You should never place venting systems close to walls where the pressure cannot escape the confinement. Here, you apply mass to quench the flame and prevent it from escaping through the vent panel. How to prevent and control dust explosions is a crucial topic for industries dealing with combustible dust.
Pressure relief needs to take into account the nature of the reaction mixture involved, (e.G. Viscosity, boiling gas/liquid mixtures) and sizing routines for gas and dust explosions are not appropriate. Operators should demonstrate that appropriate measures are in place either to prevent explosions from taking place, or to protect against/minimise the effects of explosions. Explosion protection solution for hoppers, silos and other vessels by depressurisation and explosion suppression, and protection against adjacent equipment by cut-off. The complete explosion protection system for your plant, from site explosion analysis to the integration and commissioning of the explosion protection system. Much like with a rapid acting slide gate valve, the suppression system is activated by the detectors being used (optical detection, pressure detection etc).
Know your laws and regulations — the process owner is responsible for the selection of the combustible material management strategy and to assure compliance with all applicable european union directives, codes and standards. If your facility stores, handles or processes combustible materials, nfpa 652 requires a dust hazard analysis (dha) to be completed and documented into a final report. We give all our customers the opportunity to visit an rsbp test facility in the czech republic to see explosion protection in action. An aspiration system that does not comply with the operating conditions of the site only adds to the explosion hazard problems of the plant. We do our best to simplify the process for our clients so nothing is left unclear. At coopatex, we are proud to maintain well established relationships with all types of processing facilities, large and small.
Nevertheless, the tragic consequences could be averted by using high-quality explosion protection. Generally, some of these materials are not combustible, but under certain conditions (the right size and concentration), they can burn or explode. These particles can accumulate on various surfaces in your work area, such as rafters, roofs, dust collectors, ducts, crevices, drop ceilings and even other equipment. However, several proactive measures can be used to significantly reduce the risk of dust explosions.Explosion protection for dust hazards
Check whether all ducts are airtight and make sure the dust cannot escape when the machine starts working. Select a hood that captures dust properly and diverts it into the dust collector. Finally, effective and regular cleaning plays a crucial part in keeping the accumulated fugitive dust below the minimum explosible levels. The dried residue from wet materials can also produce combustible dusts that pose a risk.
Checking of calculations is best done by the computer expert system dust expert, developed by hse, and available to relevant process safety specialists. Basic input data required is the strength of the process equipment, the equipment volume, kst and p max figures for the dust itself, and the opening pressure of the vent panel or door. It’s essential to have a comprehensive plan to manage and mitigate potential combustible dust risk. Learn more about prevention strategies that focus on ways to reduce the potential for a combustion event to occur in a dust collector.
The dust safety science reports in their combustible dust incident reports that dust explosions caused 163 fires and 53 explosions in 2021, killing 69 workers and injuring 215 others. For some industries, the accumulation of combustible dust in a factory is unavoidable given the specifics of their activities and the sheer size of the workplace. And because any solid flammable material can create explosive dust, processing plants in many industries are at risk. Implementing these technical and engineering measures requires a thorough understanding of the materials being handled, the processes involved, and the specific risks present in a facility. By carefully designing and maintaining these protection systems, industries can significantly mitigate the impact of dust explosions.
Combustible dust collector explosions are a serious risk at most manufacturing, processing and metalworking plants. They can occur without warning in many areas, but one of the most common locations is the dust collection system. That’s because these systems hold a lot of suspended combustible dust in one confined space. An unprotected dust collection system has a high risk of explosions, which is why they are addressed by osha’s national emphasis program for combustible dust. An explosion in an unprotected dust collector produces a high pressure wave that can fragment the housing and send heat, flames, and dangerous projectiles into the workplace.
When this dust comes in contact with the right concentration of oxygen, an explosion can occur. A source for ignition is all it takes to trigger an explosion. The explosion might not be contained to the immediate vicinity. Dust explosions spread from the small explosion around an ignition source to the rest of the facility. In these cases, the initial explosion stirs up the dust in the rest of the facility, and then that dust ignites. The secondary explosion can be significant, injuring or killing workers and destroying property. When dust is disturbed and exposed to certain elements, there is a risk that a serious explosion will occur.
The risk for dust explosion then, is present in workplaces that produce or generate dust, that is, any industry whose production processes produce fine particulate matter as a byproduct. It is essential for process owners to understand their dust hazards and ensure they manage combustion risks in their processes. The responsibility for evaluating and managing risks, creating an explosion protection mitigation plan, and complying with all applicable laws and regulations lies with the process owners, who know best their process, facility, and workers. Explosion venting is one of three basic system elements used for protection from combustible dust explosions.Combustible dust donaldson industrial dust, fume & mist
The effects of an explosion can be devastating, not only in cost due to production downtime and repairs, but also to the safety of personnel. Use electrical equipment dust protected to ip5x or ip6x (see bs en part 14), depending on dust levels.
